Meet our administrative team

Gary Parker: Executive Director
Gary was recruited in September 1999 as KIAC's first employee. He is working closely with the Board of Directors and staff towards the lofty goal of establishing a viable arts education institute that has an international scope of operations.Gary worked for many years as a senior manager with the Klondike Visitors Association, gaining useful experience in conducting the affairs of a volunteer based non-profit organization. He was attracted to this position because of a lifelong interest in the arts and the irresistible vision of KIAC's founding members.
Evelyn Pollock: Programs Manager
Starting out in the Kootenay region of BC, it was a switchback trail that led Evelyn to the Yukon. After completing her BA in Anthropology and French at UVic, then working for CIDA in Africa... who knew she'd end up studying Media Arts in Vancouver before coming home to the north?

In between working here at KIAC, practicing all things gunslinger and spending time outdoors, Evelyn tries to make sense of the world by shooting photographs, and making films- having just returned from a road trip across Canada & shooting a documentary about truckers.

Evelyn's next project is to become a jockey, and race thoroughbreds on the British circuit.
Mike Yuhasz: Gallery and Residency Coordinator
Originally from Ontario, Mike, along with his partner Gwen, packed up their belongings and headed for the Yukon (for 5 years) in 1995. Almost 12 years later (and two kids) they're still here. Mike first got involved as a volunteer in the early days of DCAS serving on the Board of Directors and spearheading the development of ODD Gallery programming and the KIAC Artist in Residence Program.

In addition to coordinating exhibitions and artists' residencies, Mike has continued to work in his own artistic practice. His fictional Great North Development Group has been seen at several Yukon Trade Shows and Galleries across Canada. Visit Great North at http://www.greatnorthdev.com/
Tara Rudnickas: Programs Coordinator
Tara grew up in Toronto, received a BFA from ECIAD in Vancouver and has wandered around some random countries and small towns since then. Over the past 5 years she has been involved with KIAC as a volunteer, exhibiting artist, student and board member. Now she has a desk with a nice lamp. Tara continues to work in photography, installation, sewing, drawing, crochet and her garden.

David H. Fraser: Administrative Assistant
David rode up to Dawson City from Vancouver in the spring of '07, taking pictures along the way and making a dream come true. His past Administrative Assistant experience includes being an Arts Council Assistant for an artist-run centre in Nova Scotia. His love of paperwork & office supplies attracted him to this line of work, and his organization skills come in quite handy. You'll have to deal with him if you stop by the office in the old Odd Fellows hall, his is the first desk you will see. It’s also common to run into him all around town, often working or volunteering here 'n' there. David has a strong affection for this community, the beauty of its past, present and future. His other interests include solitary activities such as reading, traveling, and artwork that doesn't require getting your hands dirty.
Dan Sokolowski: DCISFF Coordinator
Yet another transplaced Ontarian, Dan attended the 1st Dawson City International Short Film Festival as a visiting filmmaker. 8 years later, after many return trips as KIAC Artist in Residence, ad hoc teacher and other sundry jobs, he and his partner Laurie are back for his 2nd try at the film festival... and he may just stick around until he gets it right.
Dan continues to thrive in obscurity as a filmmaker and has just finished his 18th short film. Please add to his visitors count at www.sokcinema.ca.
