The Sketchbook: Keeping a Visual Diary

Instructor: Inga Roemer

July 4th & 5th 12 - 5 pm at a classroom outside

($53 includes everything except Sketchbook)

This introductory drawing course focuses on
fundamental techniques and processes associated
with traditional and contemporary drawing.
Besides drawings from observation, the emphasis
is on using drawing as a tool to articulate
what stays in one’s memory from an experience
or situation and sharpen the student’s visual
perception. To broaden this personal way of
visual storytelling, the focus will be on building
up a personal sketchbook/diary. Students will
use pencil, charcoal or brush to draw shapes
and structures from memory, while at the same
time developing an understanding of the abstract
language of drawing.
